Public Holidays in Malta

Most shops will close their doors on Public Holidays except in December. 

  • January 1: New Year’s Day
  • February 10: St. Paul’s Shopwreck
  • March 19: St. Joseph
  • April 19 2019* – Good Friday
  • March 31: Freedom Day
  • May 1: Workers day
  • June 7: Sette Jiugno
  • June 29: Saint Peter AND Saint Paul day
  • August 15: Assumption Day
  • September 8: Our Lady of Victories
  • September 21: Independance Day
  • December 8: Immaculate Conception Day
  • December 13: Republic Day
  • December 25: Christmas Day

Only Good Friday is held at different dates each year. The rest of the public holidays have fixed dates. Boxing Day (December 26), is not an official public holiday in Malta.
